4 Tips for New Employee Orientation in Physician Practices

A Physicians Practice article discusses four ways to ease the orientation process for new employees in a medical practice.

  • Empathize with the employee. New employees may be hesitant to take risks and in the work environment, so it is important to initiate communication and action.
  • Clearly outline expectations. A new employee will be relying solely on supervisors, fellow staff members and documentation for a description of responsibilities.
  • Provide the appropriate software. The new hire should be given a computer logon, password and any needed hardware and software from day one.
  • Focus on feedback. Check in with the new employee daily for the first several weeks to answer any questions and provide feedback.
