New Center Aims for More Device Technology Breakthroughs

A new medical device innovation center in Massachusetts aims to emulate the fast pace of technological change in the consumer market, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

Researchers at the Medical Electronic Device Realization Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are working on implantable devices to warn of impending problems and diagnostic tools that are less expensive, easier to use and more versatile than what is currently on the market.

Challenges for the center include making technology smaller and more portable and improving detection technology by developing more advanced sensors.
