The University of Alabama at Birmingham has named H. Ronald Vinik, MD, professor emeritus in the department of anesthesiology.
Dr. Vinik joined the UAB faculty in 1976 and served as chief of anesthesia services at the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham from 1989 to 2005. Board certified in anesthesiology, he received his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Vinik's clinical interests include ophthalmic anesthesia, ambulatory anesthesia and drug interactions in anesthesia.
