University of Pittsburgh Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship Receives ACGME Accreditation

The University of Pittsburgh's obstetric anesthesiology fellowship program has received a three-year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

The program, offered through the university since the 1970s, is accredited for the maximum cycle length granted for first-time accreditation. Directed by Manuel C. Vallejo Jr., MD, the one-year fellowship involves anesthetic care of low- and high-risk obstetrical patients and opportunities in clinical and science research. The program enrolls two fellows each year.

The ACGME accredits post-MD medical training programs within the U.S. and aims to ensure and improve the quality of the graduate medical education experience for physicians in training.
