The National Quality Forum yesterday appointed Lee A. Fleisher, MD, to its Consensus Standards Approval Committee, the American Society of Anesthesiologists reported.
Dr. Fleisher, who currently serves as a professor of anesthesiology and critical care at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, will serve a two-year term with NQF beginning in July. The committee's primary responsibilities are to endorse national voluntary consensus standards and performance measures in programs such as the Physician Quality Reporting System.
Dr. Fleisher received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, completed his surgery internship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and completed his anesthesiology residency at Yale University in New Haven, Conn.
