Florida Licensed Practical Nurse Admits to Falsifying Patient Information, Conspiring With Others

A licensed practical nurse working for a Miami-based home health agency has pleaded guilty to falsifying patient files to make it appear that they qualified for home health care and therapy services, when in fact they did not quality or receive such services, according to a news release by the Department of Justice.

Alain Fernandez, LPN, also admitted to conspiring with others in order to defraud and bill Medicare for medically unnecessary services.

The fraud scheme resulted in Medicare being fraudulently billed approximately $43,000 for home health care services that were not medically necessary or ever rendered.
