An employee of a Miami-based rehabilitation clinic has pleaded guilty to falsifying information in patient files in a scheme to defraud Medicare, according to a news release by the Department of Justice.
Gladis Badia, who was employed by T&R Rehabilitation Professional Corp., admitted to creating and entering false information into patient files to make it appear that patients qualified for services, when in fact they did not. She also admitted to billing Medicare for HIV infusion services that patients did not quality for, and in some instances those services were never provided.
Ms. Badia's participation in the fraud scheme contributed to more than $13.7 million in fraudulent billing to the Medicare program.
