Florin Catinas, DC, an Anaheim, Calif.-based chiropractor who pleaded guilty to charges of healthcare fraud in January, was sentenced to 60 days in jail, according to a report by the Orange County Register.
The conviction was part of a sting operation by Orange County's law enforcement to crack down on chiropractors' involvement with kickbacks or overbilling. In total, 12 arrests were made — eight chiropractors, one attorney and three office employees. Of the 12 who were arrested, 10 have been convicted and one was acquitted.
Dr. Catinas was also sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay a small fine.
