Jorge J. Dieppa, MD, a general practitioner, along with about 24 other suspects in Florida, was charged with healthcare fraud as a part of a federal crackdown that charged 94 people in five cities with plotting to defraud Medicare of $251 million, according to Miami Herald.
The Florida suspects were charged with submitting false claims that totaled $103 million for home healthcare, HIV therapy and medical equipment services. Dr. Dieppa allegedly received kickbacks for making referrals to home healthcare agencies for diabetic services that were expensive and unnecessary. He was not at his home in Southwest Miami-Dade when law enforcement agents tried to make the arrest.
