Surgical Notes, a nationwide provider of medical transcription, coding, electronic medical records and other value-added IT services for ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals, has rolled out its new ScanChart application to Cool Springs Surgery Center in Franklin, Tenn.
ScanChart is Internet-based electronic medical records software designed specifically for the ASC industry.
"The ScanChart application allows a facility to digitize and manage their medical records while reducing operating cost and employee labor hours by automating manual processes," says Jeff Blankinship, president and CEO of Surgical Notes. "This is accomplished while achieving data integrity and improving the overall quality of patient care."
Cool Springs Surgery Center, a multi-specialty ASC which averages 550-650 cases a month in its five ORs and one GI suite, invested in the software because it was looking for a "cost-effective and efficient way to keep [the surgery center's medical] records organized and stored, according to Lyndsey Snyder, surgery scheduler at the ASC.
It was rolled out in mid-March and the surgery center is already recognizing benefits through its use.
"[It's] very user-friendly and helped speed up our chart preparation process," Ms. Snyder says. "It has cut down on man hours, cut down on cost of outsourced printing and it has sped up our billing time.
"Due to it being Internet-based, everything is centrally located and easily accessible, therefore creating a more streamline and efficient work flow between departments," she adds.
