The ScanChart application is a new electronic medical records software from Surgical Notes, a nationwide provider of medical transcription, coding, electronic medical records and other value-added IT services for ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals.
ScanChart is designed specifically for the ASC industry. The ScanChart system is an Internet-based portal that interfaces with a facility's existing practice management System to provide three core functions to facilities, according to Surgical Notes.
1. Prints facility forms. ScanChart allows facilities to define custom chart packs loaded with their existing forms. It will print patient charts and other forms based on physician, procedure, anesthesia type, age and/or gender.. ScanChart will also print the patient information ("sticky label") on the form and generate a unique 2D barcode.
2. Scan completed charts. After a procedure, forms printed by ScanChart and received from third-party sources can be scanned by the facility's staff and the EMR software will automatically index the chart under the appropriate patient and date of service. ScanChart is essentially converting a paper chart into a digital copy.
3. Patient chart intranet portal. ScanChart provides a web portal for the facility and billing stakeholders to view, search and manage scanned patient charts.
