Two More Representatives Sponsor ASC Quality and Access Act

Rep. James Renacci (R-Ohio) and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) signed on as cosponsors of the ASC Quality and Access Act of 2011 this week, following visits from members of their state ASC associations, according to an ASCA release.

The representatives' decision to cosponsor the legislation emphasizes the need for surgery centers to become involved in grassroots activism and advocacy efforts. ASCPAC Chair Mike Guarino said, "The time you spend face to face with members of Congress and their staff educating them about outpatient surgery centers and our needs is invaluable to the efforts to advance the ASC industry. I ask that all ASCA members come and visit Washington, or as an alternative, join us in our educational efforts by inviting your member of Congress to tour your ASC."

The ASC Quality and Access Act of 2011 now has 38 sponsors and cosponsors in the U.S. House and five in the U.S. Senate.
