The FDA has cleared OptiMedica's Catalys Precision Laser System, which combines a femtosecond laser, integrated optical coherence tomography imaging and a proprietary pattern scanning technology, for capsulatomy and lens fragmentation, according to a news release.
The system includes a patient docking interface designed to provide a stable, comfortable dock and a clear optical path for the OCT and laser. It also provides an image-guidance system to identify ocular surfaces and establish safety zones, which allows physicians to customize treatment and ensure the laser pulses are delivered to the right location.
