Fecal immunochemical testing, which tests for human blood in a patient's stool, is now available as a take-home test from Life Line Screening, according to a company news release.
The test requires no preparation and no special diet. Although the FIT test is not a replacement for a colonoscopy, it can assist in detecting colorectal cancer early. Early detection is key in colorectal cancer — if the cancer is caught early, patients have a 90 percent five-year survival rate.
