Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Device Market Expected to Hit $2.7B by 2018

The gastrointestinal endoscopic device market will be fueled by an increase in colon cancer screening and anti-reflux procedures and is expected to hit $2.7 billion in sales by 2018, according to a news report by iData Research.

market, which reached $1.9 billion in sales in 2011, will also be driven by the adoption of new technologies such as double-balloon and ultrasound endoscopes. Growth is also expected in gastrointestinal hemostasis devices, which are used to repair gastrointestinal hemorrhaging; ligation clips, which are less expensive and can be more effective than alternative therapies; and anti-reflux procedures, which are designed to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. Anti-reflux procedures are expected to increase almost seven-fold by 2018 in the U.S.
