California Uses $3.2 Million Grant to Train More Nurses, Physician Assistants

The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development has awarded $3.2 million in grants to nursing education and physician assistant programs, according to a Payers & Providers report. The grants are part of an ongoing effort to expand the healthcare workforce in the state.


OSHPD awarded $2.8 million to 17 nursing programs and $400,000 to four physician assistant programs spread across Azusa Pacific University, Fresno City College and five California State University campuses.


In January, OSHPD awarded $1.47 million to programs for training physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
