7 Missed Opportunities of Not Having a Professional Website

An American Medical News report discussed the importance of maintaining a professional physician website and social media presence. An internet presence humanizes the practice, informs patients and attracts new cases, the report said.

"It's a very different business world now with the social Web," said Lorrie Thomas, CEO of Web Marketing Therapy, a marketing agency and training company. "We make our decisions based on Googling people and going to their websites."

The report highlighted the following missed opportunities for physicians and medical practices that do not maintain up-to-date websites and social media accounts:

  • You will not stand out to potential patients.
  • Having no reputation can be as harmful as a bad reputation.
  • You are missing an opportunity to educate.
  • There is no outlet for people to sing your praises.
  • You are not in control of your own brand.
  • You are missing an opportunity to improve office efficiency.
  • You might lose out on recommendations.
