Twin Cities Orthopedics Launches New Surgical Program With On-Site Rehabilitation

Twin Cities Orthopedics, the nation's second-largest orthopedic group, has launched a new surgical program with on-site rehabilitation, according to a Sacramento Bee report.

The program, called Excel, provides a dedicated nurse practitioner to guide a patient from pre-surgery to post-surgery and into a special recovery retreat. According to Owen R. O'Neill, executive medical director and orthopedic surgeon with Twin Cities, surgery centers across the country have outsourced recovery to hotels. This program, he said, goes a step beyond by providing on-site medical rehabilitation.

According to the report, the program also costs less than a traditional hospital stay. A knee replacement surgery, which can cost around $40,000, costs about $21,000 with the Excel recovery retreat.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is the second-largest orthopedic practice in the U.S., with over 28 offices and 80 physicians.
