Haywood Regional Medical Center (MedWest Haywood) based in Clyde, N.C., is planning a new outpatient surgery center on property adjoining the hospital, according to reports from The Mountaineer.
The new ASC, which would be built by a physician group, is part of a series of efforts by the hospital to capture business migrating out of the area. Other components include a new urgent care center and a retail clinic to address simple medical issues.
The hospital is working to convince residents it can provide quality care following the hospital's loss of Medicare and Medicaid certification in 2008 for three months following examination of records, according to the report.
