10 things to know about Pinnacle III

Pinnacle III has developed over 40 centers in 18 states since it was established in 1999.

Here are 10 things to know.

1. Lakewood, Colo.-based Pinnacle III offers de novo development, operational management, operational revitalization and revenue cycle management services for ASCs.

2. Principal Partner Richard DeHart co-founded Pinnacle in 1999 and served as its CEO. Prior to launching the company, he acquired experience overseeing the management of 14 surgery centers in five states.

3. President and CEO Robert Carrera was promoted to his current position in 2012, taking Mr. DeHart's place. Mr. Carrera has accrued more than 25 years of healthcare experience, including 20 years developing and managing a range of facilities including ASCs. Mr. Carrera is a founding member and past president of the Colorado Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.

4. The passing of the torch from Mr. DeHart to Mr. Carrera coincided with the company's move from Fort Collins, Colo., to the Denver area.

5. In November 2012, Pinnacle III announced it financially revitalized the previously struggling Orland Park (Ill.) Surgical Center by reviewing and improving the center's managed care contracts, reducing supply costs and improving revenue cycle management strategies.

6. Pinnacle has clients in 18 states throughout the U.S.

7. One of Pinnacle's affiliated centers is the Lone Tree, Colo.-based Insight Surgery Center, which Parker, Colo.-based InSight Vision Group purchased in 2017. The center now offers ophthalmology, orthopedics and plastic surgery.

8. Pinnacle manages Frisco, Colo.-based Peak One Surgery Center, a joint venture between local surgeons and Frisco-based St. Anthony Summit Medical Center that was reaccredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care following a March survey.

9. Last year, The Colorado Healthcare-Associated Infections Advisory Committee selected Peak One Surgery Center Administrator and Pinnacle's Director of Operations Michaela Halcomb, RN, BSN, as its ASC representative. Under her guidance, Peak One has ramped up infection prevention efforts and control program surveillance.

10. In April, Pinnacle's Director of Analytics Cody Carlin published an article examining how ASCs can benefit from data analytics programs and explaining the evaluation process for determining when analytics are a good organizational fit.
