The FDA granted 510(k) clearance to Ivera Medical's Curos disinfecting port protector, designed to reduce hospital-acquired catheter related bloodstream infections, according to a company news release.
The Curos passive disinfection cap first received 510(k) clearance in 2008. Studies have shown the new device disinfects IV access ports within three minutes, which in turn remain clean for seven days.
