8 factors that limit physician income: 32.8% say reimbursement decrease

There are several factors that could limit a physician’s income. Which factors are most troubling?

Medicus Firm’s “Physician Practice Preference & Relocation Survey: 2016” sought to answer just that. Here are the top factors physicians feel limit their income the most:

1. Reimbursement decreases: 32.8 percent
2. Personal choice (to work less and make less): 14.1 percent
3. Patient volume/patient load: 9.6 percent
4. Payer mix: 8.4 percent
5. Overhead increases: 7.7 percent
6. Administrative work: 6 percent
7. Competition with other physicians: 5.9 percent
8. Malpractice premium costs: 1.3 percent
