Texas Medical Board Disciplines Four Local Physicians

The Texas Medical Board has disciplined four physicians, according to a KCBD news report.

Michael Balch, MD, an internist, has agreed to pay $3,000 for not following proper prescribing protocol of a "dangerous drug." The news report did not disclose which drug Dr. Balch improperly prescribed. Diego Rivera, MD, a general practitioner, has also agreed to pay $3,000 for the same violation.

David Keith Hagstrom, MD, a pain physician, has agreed to take medical education for reportedly prescribing narcotics to a drug abuser. Meanwhile, Harry T. Weaver, Jr., MD, a general surgeon, will pay a $5,000 fine and undergo anger management after allegedly hitting a family member while intoxicated.
