It's increasingly common for anesthesia groups to provide services outside of typical anesthetizing locations, according to Anesthesia Business Consultants President and CEO Tony Mira.
To determine which anesthesia services are commonly delivered outside the operating room, ABC collected data from five large practices in Florida, New Jersey, Illinois, Wisconsin and California.
Non-OR anesthesia represented between 2 and 3 percent of services for the five sample practices, which provided data for the years 2015 to 2019.
The top five non-OR anesthesia procedures:
1. Cardioversion
2. MRI of the brain
3. Pacemaker insertion
4. Bronchoscopy
5. MRI of the spine
