Physicians from Melville, N.Y.-based North American Partners in Anesthesia helped vascular surgeon Douglas Troutman, DO, perform an unusual surgery at Chestnut Hill Hospital-Tower Health in Philadelphia.
The hospital's anesthesiology chairman, Mark Bennett, MD, along with Susan Logan, CRNA, supported Dr. Troutman in performing an abdominal aortic endarterectomy.
The high-risk procedure was successful. It is one rarely performed at a tertiary hospital.
"The success of this procedure, led by Dr. Troutman, was a true team effort that required significant planning and coordination between the surgeon, the anesthesia department, the department of medicine, the intensive care unit, nurses, the blood bank and pharmacy," Dr. Bennett said. "I am privileged to work with highly experienced colleagues who elevated the hospital's capabilities with this procedure and demonstrated that CHH delivers superior perioperative care."
