Hugh Morgan Promoted to Vice President of Quality Management of Somnia Anesthesia

Somnia Anesthesia, an anesthesia practice management company, announced that Hugh Morgan has been promoted from director to vice president of quality management.

Mr. Morgan joined Somnia in 2010, after serving as a consultant for the company at one of its client hospitals. Prior to joining Somnia, he held hospital and physician practice management positions in the U.S. Army military healthcare system, at Temple University Hospital and at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

As vice president of quality management, Mr. Morgan provides national leadership and oversight for Somnia's clinical quality excellence program in anesthesia. He also initiated Somnia's participation with the Anesthesia Quality Institute, through which Somnia's clinical outcomes data contributes to the National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry for the purpose of establishing and ultimately publishing national clinical outcome benchmarks for anesthesia.

Mr. Morgan also serves as the Executive Director of Somnia's Patient Safety Organization; one of only 76 currently operating PSOs in the country. Somnia received PSO status from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality in 2011, and was the first anesthesia-only practice management company to receive this designation.

Mr. Morgan received his bachelor's degree from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pa., and served five years on active duty in the U.S. Army before retiring as a Captain with an Honorable Discharge in 1998. He is also a Certified Medical Practice Executive through the Medical Group Management Association.
