In the ASC environment, open communication amongst your team and other ASCs in your network is vital for success.
When a variety of team members are engaged in a facility’s planning initiatives, it can help you to identify potential pitfalls in your strategy that may not be obvious at first glance. It’s also important to lean on other ASCs and learn from their successes.
According to Marvella Thomas, MSN, RN, and Senior Consultant of Clinical Operations at Cardinal Health, “A piece of advice I’d offer is that it is really important that ASCs talk with their peers. There are a lot of great articles out there that discuss what went well and what didn’t work.”
If your facility is planning on implementing a new program, for example, Ms. Thomas suggests doing some research and finding other ASCs that have already implemented a similar program. “If you tap into that network, there are great resources out there that can make the organization much more successful,” said Ms. Thomas.
