Wheeling, W.Va.-based Ohio Valley Health Services has filed a lawsuit accusing its former CEO of making illegal payment arrangements with physicians and draining a $38 million endowment fund to hide operating losses, according to a report from The Republic.
OVHS claims former CEO Brian Felici's "subpar performance, fraudulent and illegal conduct and fraudulent misrepresentations" cause severe financial damage to its Valley Medical Center in Wheeling and East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
The complaint does not provide an estimate on the total losses, but seeks punitive damages and legal fees.
Mr. Felici did not comment on the lawsuit. He is now CEO of Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville, W.Va.
