New Jersey physician Magdy Elamir, MD, was indicted for healthcare fraud and writing unnecessary prescriptions, according to a report by NorthJersey.com, the online edition of The Record.
Dr. Elamir, while conspiring with others, allegedly filed false claims to Medicaid for examinations and treatments that never occurred. Additionally, he was indicted for unnecessarily writing prescriptions for painkillers and anti-anxiety medicine in exchange for cash.
His license was suspended by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners in December.
