The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will be allocating $9 million in grants to more than 50 Senior Medicare Patrol programs aimed to fight Medicare fraud, according to a CMS news release.
The grants are a part of President Obama's mandate to educate seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries on how to be aware of, prevent and report Medicare fraud. The grants will expand the SMP program capacity, and increased funding will go to states with high incidence of fraud to support additional targeted strategies for collaboration, media outreach and referrals.
