Surgical Notes Sponsors Reception for Former White House Physician

Surgical Notes, a nationwide provider of medical transcription, coding, electronic medical records and other value-added IT services for ambulatory surgery centers, is the primary sponsor of an upcoming reception for Dr. Connie Mariano, White House physician for nine years.

The invitation-only event will take place in June at the Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas. Invitees include George Bush Sr., Ross Perot, and the leadership from Baylor Health Care System and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Dr. Mariano became, in 1992, the first military woman in American history to be appointed White House doctor. She served as White House physician during the final year of the term of George H.W. Bush, then for the entire eight years of Bill Clinton, and lastly, during the first year of George W. Bush's first term in office. During that time she not only cared for the presidents and their families, she also cared for dignitaries and traveled all over the world with the presidents. She has recently authored the new book, "The White House Doctor: My Patients were Presidents."

Jeff Blankinship, president and CEO of Surgical Notes, says sponsorship of the event is reflective of his company's efforts to remain an active participant in the medical community.

"This is one more opportunity for Surgical Notes to be involved not only nationally but locally in helping support leaders in the healthcare industry," he says.
