Surgical Notes' SnChart Transcription Service Adds Infectious Log Module, in Beta Testing Stage for iPad Functionality

Surgical Notes, a nationwide provider of medical transcription, coding, electronic medical records and other value-added IT services for ASCs, has announced the development and launch of an infectious log module for its SnChart Transcription Service.

This module will allow the ASC and its physicians to fill out infectious log reporting from the SnChart.com website and address any postoperative hospitalizations, infections and patient follow-up.

"There's a disconnect when the surgeon comes in, does the surgery and then the ASC doesn't see him again until the next surgery," says Jeff Blankinship, CEO of Surgical Notes. "[The module is intended] to ensure that the data gets reported back to the ASC, it reduces administrator waste and allows physicians to electronically report post-op complications, infections and hospitalizations. The ASC stays more informed, this is less of a burden on physicians, it also helps streamline the process and allows the ASC to meet mandatory reporting requirements."

In addition, Surgical Notes announced thst it is working with Apple Business Development group to develop iPad functionality for SnChart. This new functionality will allow physicians to edit and sign operative reports on their ipad or Mac. This service is currently offered on SNChart.com but only for Windows PCs. The physician community has asked for this ability.

The project is currently in a beta-testing phase and the company expects it to finish testing and to launch in the first quarter of 2011.
