Northstar Healthcare, an owner and manager of ASCs, has announced that Donald Kramer, MD, the founder and first CEO of the company, is rejoining Northstar as its CEO.
The company also announced that Donna Alexander will serve as the company's chief operating officer, a position she had previously held.
Dr. Kramer recently acquired a 56 percent stake in the company, which led to a new board of directors and the determination that Dr. Kramer and Ms. Alexander should return to positions they previously held prior to Dr. Kramer leaving the company, according to a Northstar news release.
Northstar currently holds interests in two ASCs in Houston — a 70 percent partnership interest in The Palladium for Surgery - Houston and a 60 percent partnership interest in Medical Ambulatory Surgical Suites.
"I have made a substantial investment to acquire control of Northstar, aligning my interests directly with those of all shareholders," said Dr. Kramer in the news release. "Together with the new board, Donna and the Northstar team, I intend to move decisively to take Northstar in a new direction, one that takes advantage of the multiple opportunities present today in the changing healthcare industry."
