Ansell Donates Medical Gloves and Supplies to Joplin, MO

Ansell Limited, a provider of protection solutions, donated protective supplies and equipment from all three of its business segments — medical, industrial and sexual health and well being — to Joplin, Mo., following the deadly tornado which destroyed an estimated 8,000 buildings, killed at least 116 people and injured more than 500 people in the city, according to a news release.

Ansell's industrial division partnered with a mass merchandiser and Joplin's fire department to provide thousands of cut-resistant and disposable gloves to volunteers and relief workers requiring protection from injury as they sifted through rubble looking for survivors.

Ansell's medical division donated cases of exam and surgical gloves to Freeman Medical Center to help replenish its depleted supplies as the facility operated as the only open facility in the area.

Ansell's sexual health and well being division donated gloves, which were distributed by a retailer in Joplin.

"When disaster strikes so suddenly, communities are often overwhelmed with immediate needs, and the amount of other essential supplies destroyed in the disaster are often overlooked," said Patty Taylor, vice president of marketing - medical division at Ansell, according to the release. "Whether it's caring for the injured or cleaning up debris, we want to ensure healthcare providers, volunteers and residents have the best protective equipment to safely carry out their relief work."
