University Hospital in Cleveland is now one of just several hospitals in the country performing cryoablation to provide pain relief to cancer patients, according an NBC 5 Cleveland report.
The hospital’s Seidman Cancer Center performs the procedure, which involves freezing or burning cancer cells with a probe and effectively removing the cells’ painful contact with the bone.
Patients experience pain relief in 12 to 48 hours following the cryoablation procedure.
