Ithaca College Professor Receives $1.5 Million Pain Research Grant

Ithaca College Physical Therapy Professor Katherine Beissner will use a $1.5 million research grant to study pain therapy treatments in older patients, according to an interview in The Ithacan.

The grant from the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research will help Ms. Beissner test the effectiveness of pain-centered physical therapy that she developed with Manney Reid, MD, of Cornell University. The project, titled ''Treating Pain to Reduce Disability Among Older Home Health Patients, '' aims to treat pain in older adults through physical and mental rehabilitation.
