Florida Society of Pain Management President Says Law Enforcement Campaigns Threaten Legit Practices

In an editorial published in the Sun-Sentinel, Paul Sloan, president of the Florida Society of Pain Management Providers, wrote the majority of Florida's pain physicians and centers are legitimate, and law enforcement campaigns pose a threat to the existence of these legitimate providers.

Mr. Sloan also suggested the problem of illegal pill mills and prescription drug abuse may be overexaggerated. In his editorial, he suggests several tools that could help contain prescription drug abuse without negatively affecting pain physicians, including a prescription drug monitoring program, physician education and affordable drug treatment programs.
