As Florida's new pill mill legislation cuts off dealers and addicts from prescription painkillers, drug treatment centers in the state are bracing for a wave of new patients, according to a report by the Palm Beach Post.
In the Orlando area, emergency departments have already been seeing an increase in the number of patients with withdrawal symptoms.
The new law, which went into effect July 1, imposes new standards for pain clinics and requires reporting prescriptions to a state databank to prevent the same patient from getting another prescription somewhere else.
