Orthopedic surgeon Jared Roberts, MD, performed the first outpatient total hip replacement procedure within the northeastern New York area at Capital Region Ambulatory Surgery Center in Albany.

1. Dr. Roberts is an orthopedic surgeon at The Bone and Joint Center in Albany.
2. His specialties include anterior total hip replacement, total knee replacement, total hip and knee revision and trauma.
3. The procedure was the first of its kind to be done in a freestanding ASC within the Capital Region, Saratoga County and northeastern New York state.
4. Capital Region ASC partnered with MVP Health Care to provide outpatient hip, knees and shoulders for selected MVP patients.
5. "The fact is that many patients within the Baby Boomer population are more active and more fit than previous generations, even as they begin to develop arthritis," Dr. Roberts said. "Outpatient total joint replacement is a great option for them."
