The Florida Department of Health has ordered an Orlando, Fla. pain management clinic, A Stop Pain Management, to be shut down after department officials found that the clinic violated state business statutes, according to an Orlando Sentinel news report.
Among the statute violations, department officials found shortages of painkiller medication in the pain management clinic’s inventory. Additionally, A Stop Pain Management failed to comply with a state law requiring pain clinics to be owned by a physician. When the law went into effect in Oct. 2010, the health department notified A Stop Pain management that its registration as a pain clinic would be revoked since there was no designated physician owner.
A Stop consequently notified the health department that it had applied for a healthcare license through the Agency for Health Care Administration. However, when the agency denied its application, the pain clinic did not notify the department.
