UC Davis Surgeons Implant Miniature Eye Telescope

The first patient in Northern California has received a miniature telescopic eye implant, according to a media advisory.

The procedure to help treat end-stage, age-related macular degeneration was performed by surgeons from UC Davis Health System in Sacramento, Calif.

The patient — an eighty-nine-year old artist — is among the first 50 patients in the United States to receive the procedure. The telescope was implanted in her left eye.
