Washington State Surgery Center Physicians, Professionals Lobby in DC

Ambulatory surgery center physicians and professionals from Washington state recently flew into Washington, D.C., and met with their congressional representatives to lobby on behalf of ASCs, according to a report from ASCA's Government Affairs Update.

The Washington participants met with Sen. Maria Cantwell and Reps. Rick Larsen and Adam Smith. They also met with health staff members from the offices of Sen. Patty Murray and Reps. Jay Inslee and Jim McDermott.

The group members discussed a number of issues, including Medicare reimbursement, ASC quality reporting and value-based purchasing. Each member of Congress and their staffs were asked to cosponsor the ASC Quality and Access Act.
