Executive Director of the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society Anthony German recently sent a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services commenting on the proposed ASC reimbursement rules for 2014.
Mr. German discussed TASCS's support of adding procedures to the Medicare ASC-approved procedure list, as many are currently safely performed in ASCs and reimbursed by commercial payers. Many of the new procedures involve spine care.
The organization also supports replacing the Consumer Price Index ASC payment update with a market basket index, the same tool used to update hospital outpatient department reimbursement.
