Almost half of patients needing vision correction are significantly astigmatic in at least one eye, according to a Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today report.
Data from the study by the publication Eye & Contact Lens also show that the prevalence of astigmatism is almost double in patients with myopia compared to those with hyperopia.
Astigmatism of 0.75 D was the threshold for analysis because this is usually the lowest amount corrected with toric soft contact lenses.
