Patients with uveitis, an eye condition leading to vision loss, responded equally well to two common medical and surgical treatments over a period of two years, according to a Penn Medicine report.
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and other institutions found a similar degree of visual improvement using systemic anti-inflammatory medicine and a time-release implant placed surgically inside the eye.
Results of this study, the Multicenter Uveitis Steroid Treatment Trial, are published online in the journal Ophthalmology.
