Spending on glaucoma medications increased 25 percent over a six-year period from 2001-2006, according to a report by MedPage Today.
Spending was fueled by some new, more expensive medications, the aging of the U.S. population and more spending by woman patients and those on public assistance.
Researchers at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami used the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey from 2001-2006 to track glaucoma spending.
