General surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and plastic surgeons all saw their salaries increase about 8 percent in 2010, according to a Poughkeepsie Journal report citing CBSalary.com data.
General surgeons now earn an average of $342,971.
Neurosurgeons earn an average salary of $503,326.
Orthopedic surgeons receive an average salary of $373,847.
Plastic surgeons receive an average salary of $285,561.
Other medical professions — endodontist (up 18 percent), pharmacologist (up 10.4 percent) and medical officer (up 8.02 percent) — also saw significant increases over the prior year, according to the report.
