CASCA Leadership Pens Column on How Surgery Centers Help Colorado State Budget

The president and vice president of the Colorado Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (CASCA) have written a column appearing in the Colorado Healthcare News which focuses how the more than 110 ASCs in the state help to rein in rising healthcare costs while contributing positively to the Colorado state budget and communities.

The article, written by Lisa Austin, RN, president, and Craig Davis, MD, vice president, reference two CASCA studies conducted in 2010 which help demonstrate the ASCs' financial impact on the state and the positive benefits for their patients.

The Colorado Healthcare News column notes results of the studies which revealed ASCs are staffed with more than 3,000 full-time employees, generate nearly $1.6 billion in economic growth while contributing almost $200 million in state tax revenues.

The column also highlights many of the quality care benefits provided by surgery centers.
