St. John's Hospital to acquire Prairie Surgery Center for $8.5M.
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board has approved St. John's Hospital's proposal to acquire Prairie Surgery Center in Springfield, Ill., for $8.5M. Ophthalmologist Sandra Yeh, MD, opened the center three years ago.
CMS to offer end-to-end testing for ICD-10.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced it will offer end-to-end testing for ICD-10 this summer. The testing will allow providers to submit practice claims to CMS and receive feedback on how the claims were processed.
ASC Quality Reporting Program now includes cataract and endoscopy measurement tools.
The Ambulatory Surgical Center Quality Reporting Program now offers a Cataract Data Collection Tool and Endoscopy Tool Flow Charts. These tools are designed to assist with ASC-9, ASC-10 and ASC-11 quality measure data collection.
Bellingham ASC adds three surgeons.
Bellingham (Wash.) Ambulatory Surgery Center, affiliated with Symbion, added three new surgeons. Whatcom Eye Surgeons' Kristi L. Bailey, MD, and Aaron A. Kuzin, MD, were among the surgeons joining Bellingham ASC. Founder of Bellingham Spine Pain Specialists Way Yin, MD, will also now bring cases to the center.
CMS: Physician Compare adds quality data.
For the first time, CMS-run website Physician Compare has added group-level quality data for physician group practices and accountable care organizations in its database. The database includes quality data reported by 66 group practices and 141 ACOs thus far.
Increase in number of ASCs to drive demand for OR equipment.
A global increase in ASCs is expected to boost demand for operating room equipment over the next five years, according to a Research and Markets report. North America represents the largest market share for OR equipment.
