According to the Littler Mendelson Executive Employer Survey Report, 57 percent of respondents feel healthcare reform will have a significant impact on the workplace.
Another 37 percent reported healthcare reform will have a moderate impact. However, only 6 percent of employers thus far have discontinued healthcare benefits for full-time employees, opting to pay the penalty under the Affordable Care Act.
Around 54 percent of employers are implementing employee wellness program and 31 percent offer employee healthcare benefits through private health insurance exchanges. Another 27 percent of employers reported limiting more employees to less than 30 hours per week and 20 percent reduced hiring for new full time employees.
A recent Gallup survey reports 55 percent of respondents feel the ACA will increase costs and 41 percent say they've waited to hire new employees as a result of the legislation.
